Andhra Pradesh Govt Forms Panel to Study the Price of Theater Tickets


Ahead of a meeting of Tollywood officials with the Minister of Cinematography in Vijayawada on Tuesday, the state government issued a GO establishing a committee with stakeholders to study the issue of theater ticket prices.

The committee headed by the Principal Secretary (Home) consists of the Principal Secretaries of Revenue, Municipal Administration and Finance, as well as the Commissioner of the Department of Information and Public Relations. The legal secretary and the common collector of Krishna district are members.

From the film industry, the government has appointed Vemuri Bala Rathnam (exhibitor) of Sri Krishna theaters of Machilipatnam in Krishna district, Thummala Seetarama Prasad (distributor) of Sree Lakshmi Rama Pictures, Mutyala Ramadas, vice-president of the chamber of Telugu film trade, Vadde Om Prakash Narayana, film critic and member of the Central Board of Certification, Dr Jupalle Rakesh Reddy (association of cinephiles) and Gampa Lakshmi, association of cinephiles.

The committee takes into account all relevant factors in setting entrance fees (ticket price), classification of theaters and other matters.

As the High Court had previously asked the state government to discuss the issues in detail with stakeholders before reaching a conclusion on the ticket price, the government formed this committee to study the matter and make recommendations. to the government.

It now remains to be seen what the panel would study and recommend to the government to end the deadlock on the issue.
