The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has set up 169 additional ticket vending machines at stations to ensure smooth travel for passengers on the occasion of Rakshabandhan on Thursday.
In addition, 65 customer facilitation officers and a relief train will be available on all routes except Airport Line and Line 9, DMRC tweeted on Wednesday.
The Gray Line or Line 9 of the Delhi Metro connects Dwarka and Dhansa bus stops located at Najafgarh in West Delhi.
In 2021, metro service started early on Rakshabandhan to cope with the heavy rush, however, this time DMRC has yet to announce such time change.

Rakshabandhan marks the special bond that siblings share. It is celebrated on the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of the month of Shravan, also known as Shravan Poornima or Kjari Poonam.

This year, Rakshabandhan falls on August 11, however, according to the Hindu calendar, it can be celebrated on two dates, August 11 and August 12.
This year, the full moon date of Shukla Paksha will begin at 10:38 a.m. on Thursday, August 11. Purnima Tithi will last until 7:05 am on Friday August 12.
Engineer of Utility Powertech Ltd, Solapur detained for accepting bribe
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an engineer from Utility Powertech Ltd, Solapur in southern Maharashtra for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs1 lakh from the plaintiff. UPL is a joint venture between a private company and NTPC Limited, an Indian government company. According to the complaint, the engineer demanded an improper advantage of Rs 2.5 lakh from the complainant (a contractor) in connection with the return of his security deposit.
Best Bakery case: Court of Sessions rejects request to transfer trial
The City Sessions Court on Wednesday rejected a plea requesting the transfer of the Best Bakery of Gujarat case to another Judge of the Additional Sessions. The petitioner, a defendant in the case, claimed the trial court was unaware of Harshad Solanki’s apprehension that the witnesses were instructed. Harshad Solanki filed the plea on July 20 through lawyer Prakash Salsingekar.

The district U-16 cricket team won the Punjab Inter-district Cricket Tournament trophy after beating Patiala by 87 runs in the final test match held at Yadvinder Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on Wednesday. Ludhiana’s side got off to a poor start after losing the toss as they finished 107 carries in 52.1 overs. Armaan Walia faced 343 deliveries in 447 minutes, reaching a total of 25 ovens. BJP sets in motion organizational reshuffle of UP

Ludhiana registers 31 new Covid cases
No less than 31 new Covid cases were reported in Ludhiana on Wednesday. Currently, there are 226 active cases, of which 215 patients are in home isolation and 11 are undergoing treatment at a private facility. Ludhiana has so far recorded 1,12,860 Covid infections, of which 1,09,626 have successfully overcome the virus and 3,008 have succumbed to it.
