SLAYTON – The mighty Jackson County Central Huskies showed once again on Saturday why they are one of the favorites to win the state’s next Class A wrestling championship by crushing their rivals in the semifinals and finals of the tournament. by team of section 3A.
After going through Fulda/Murray County Central in the semifinals, the Huskies beat Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 63-6 to advance to the 2022 state tournament.
The big tournament will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from March 3-5 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
TMB dispatched Adrian/Ellsworth 47-25 in their sectional semifinal bout on Saturday, winning the top six weight classes for a 32-0 lead. The Dragons picked up wins from Rilee Heidebrink (145 pounds), Isaac Bullerman (152), Breyer Hieronimus (160), Jaren Winselman (195) and Cameron Wieneke (285), but their deficit was too big to overcome.
Against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, JCC won nine weight classes in the fall – 113 by Nolan Ambrose, 120 by Kie Anderson, 132 by Logan Butzon, 145 by Dylan Withers, 152 by Isaiah Rodriguez, 160 by Payton Handevidt, 170 by Matthew Haley, 195 by William Freking, and 220 by Trace Michelson.
There’s even more section wrestling to come. The Section 3A Individual Tournament is Saturday in Wabasso, and the Section 3AA Individual Tournament — where the Worthington Trojans hope to send competitors to the state — is Saturday in Redwood Falls.
