The day shift is open for bloody business

As Marvel Studios prepares to introduce Blade to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jamie Foxx plays a different kind of vampire hunter in the Netflix original movie day shift. Foxx plays Bud Jablonski, a family man and pool cleaner who supports his family in California’s San Fernando Valley and secretly works as a vampire hunter. Blending plenty of gory horror and comedic action, day shift overturns gender expectations.

Joining Foxx is an all-star cast, including Snoop Dogg, Meagan Good and Dave Franco as Jablonski leads his double life as a monster hunter. Produced by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski, day shift is set to focus on its action pieces. For a fun twist on vampire horror, day shift is a late summer movie that seeks to deliver.

Locke & Key arrives at its magical finale

The acclaimed television adaptation of locke and key, based on the popular comic book series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, is coming to an end with its third season. And after the cliffhanger ending with locke and key Season 2, the Locke family is more seriously threatened than ever. The third and final season was added in its entirety to Netflix this week, giving audiences a chance to binge on the entire series.

Inheriting their family’s ancestral home in New England, Keyhouse, at the start of the series, the Locke family discovered an array of magical keys, each with their own ability to bend reality. Season 2 ended with villainous Frederick Gideon rampaging by demons and still dangerously at large. With the Locke family on the defensive as Gideon searches for all the keys, the stakes are higher than ever as locke and key finishes its race.

Dota: Dragon’s Blood returns with fire and fury

Dota: Dragon’s Bloodthe popular anime adaptation of the online video game Dota 2, has been well received since its premiere last year. Set in a medieval fantasy world, dragon’s blood follows a young Dragon Knight named Davion who has dedicated his life to slaying dragons to defend his kingdom and avenge his family. However, Davion’s life is turned upside down when an Elder Dragon fuses his soul with the human warrior, inextricably linking the two.

Teaming up with moon princess Mirana, Davion sets out to stop the demonic Terrorblade from absorbing dragon souls to gain their power and plunge the kingdom into eternal darkness. Dota: Dragon’s Blood Book 3 is available to stream now on Netflix, picking up the fiery fantasy tale after the shocking ending of Season 2. And with the heroes having already made huge sacrifices to keep their homes safe, the scope is on the point to intensify as the animated series continues.

Riverdale is gearing up for the end of an era

Fans were shocked to learn earlier this year that Riverdale would be coming to an end with its upcoming seventh season. The Archie Comics adaptation delighted audiences with a decidedly more sinister take on Archie Andrews and his friends in the eponymous town in upstate New York. And just in time to help the public prepare RiverdaleNetflix’s latest season, Season 6 has just been added to the Netflix library.

Riverdale Season 6 took a big leap forward in the show’s paranormal potential, with the characters finding themselves in the alternate reality of Rivervale. As the characters struggle with the existence of parallel universes, they also encounter a time traveler who threatens to upend the entire timeline by creating a time paradox. Always so unreasonable, riverdale goes for it all with its crazy storylines in its penultimate season, including a surprise crossover with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The Nice Guys is Shane Black at his best

After leading the 2013s iron man 3filmmaker Shane Black returned to Los Angeles in 1977 for his detective film The good ones. Starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as a mismatched couple tasked with finding a missing teenager, the two actors are found to share a natural on-screen chemistry. And with its fast-paced dialogue and comedic overtones, The good ones is Black offering what he does best with his signature style.

Gosling plays hapless private detective Holland March, who falls into a deadly plot during a missing persons case. He’s joined by gruff enforcer Jackson Healy (Crowe), with the two unlikely partners going head-to-head against assassins and armed henchmen. Now available to stream on Netflix, The good ones is the perfect blend of comedy with neo-noir sensibilities, all well placed in Black’s creative wheelhouse.
