* Urges the leadership of the APC not to reverse its victory
A senatorial aspirant for the senatorial district of Oyo Central on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, Mr. Faozey Nurudeen, said on Monday that he was the winner of the primary held on Saturday in the Senatorial District of Moniya Region, Ibadan.
Nurudeen, during an interview with reporters in Ibadan, through the managing director of his campaign organization, Alhaji Semiu Alebiosu, called on APC management to declare him the winner as he was the one who got the highest number of votes in the primary.
No fever as seven aspirants on the APC platform have indicated their interest in representing the central senatorial district of Oyo with 11 local government areas spread across Ibadan (five), Oyo (four) and Ogbomoso (two) .
The local government areas are Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East, Oyo West, Akinyele, Egbeda, Lagelu, Oluyole, Ona Ara, Surulere and Ogo Oluwa.
Nurudeen however maintained that he was the one with the most votes, 300 in the primary election, so the party should declare him the winner, insisting that he was the winner of the primary election, because no of the other contenders only scored what he got in the election as declared by the returning officer.
He added that he got the most votes to defeat Dr. Yunus Akintunde, who got 114 votes, Hon. Bimbo Kolade, who got 30 votes, Mr. Oyeleru Oyedemi, who got 43 votes and Senator Ayo Adeseun, who got 0 votes, saying it would be wrong to declare someone who came second as the winner of an election held in a democratic framework.
According to him, “I was the winner of the APC primary election held at Oyo Central. I scored 300 votes. The election took place on Saturday and chaired by Ms. Ajibike. It took place at the Royal Seed Event Center, Moniya, Ibadan.
“I scored 300 votes ahead of Dr. Yunus Akintunde (114), Hon. Bimbo Kolade (30), Mr. Oyeleru Oyedemi (43) and Senator Ayo Adeseun (0). So how does someone who is come second can he be announced as the winner of the election. I call on the leadership of the APC not to go back on my victory. I won the elections”.
